About 6 days ago, I flew from Detroit to Atlanta to meet up with my family at Jekyll Island. The flight was great, and I enjoyed the excellent customer service from the flight attendants. However, when I landed, my checked luggage was nowhere to be found, which was the start of my problems. We were hopeful that it would show up and waited almost an hour, but we got word the plane was completely emptied and still no bag. They helped me file a claim at the desk, and I had no choice but to buy a few basics because I had no luggage.
I was in Georgia for about 5 days and still no word about my baggage, so I flew home without it. However, I was getting impatient and worried, so I decided to call the number they provided me with. To be honest, I wasn't sure how long it would take for me to talk to someone. JetBlue is a large flight company, and with so many flights, delays, cancellations and potentially other lost luggage, they could have very busy phone lines. Thankfully, it wasn't too hard for me to get through.
In fact, it only took about 2 minutes to get to a customer service agent. Once I called, I realized that I had been given a direct line to baggage, which is probably one of the reasons that I was able to talk to someone so quickly. When I called, an automated assistant picked up and said, "Thank you for calling the JetBlue central baggage team. Please have your confirmation and/or claim number ready. You may also send us a message through the customer portal if you prefer not to wait. If you are calling in regards to lost and found, you need to make a claim. Go to JetBlue.com/bags/help/claims. Additionally, if you are a French resident and would not like your call recorded, please advise when speaking with a crew member."
Then, they repeated the entire message in French and, after a slight pause, told me to, "Please press 1 if you know your party’s extension; otherwise, please continue to hold for the next available crew member." I didn't, so I stayed on the line and was transferred to a hold line. I listened to some music while on hold for about 30 seconds, and a crew agent picked up. My only complaint is that the crew agent had a very thick accent, and I struggled to understand him. However, it was clear regardless by the end of the call that no one knew where my bag was still.
