I can’t access my account on experian. I don’t remember my password, and I have an updated phone number. My old phone number is not in use any more and it says I need it in order to reset the password.

We understand your situation and we're sorry for the inconvenience. If you have forgotten your password and do not have access to the phone number associated with your Experian account, you would typically have to go through Experian's account recovery process. The process will ask for other identifying details to securely verify your identity. This may involve answering questions related to your credit report or providing additional documentation. Once you have successfully identified yourself, you should be able to reset your password and update your phone number.

How do I talk to a real person?

Unfortunately, we can't provide guidance on how to speak to a real person as this service doesn't deliver live customer support. However, with Experian generally, there are direct phone lines and customer service options available, including real-time chat options on their official website. They provide customer service for general inquiries, fraud and identity theft help, and disputing credit report information. Their phone lines are usually open during regular business hours, and you can also leave a message for them to contact you back. Please note that response times may vary depending upon the inquiry type and overall volume of inquiries.

My identity was compromised by AT&T. I need to check my credit report. I would like a copy of my free credit report.

You can get a free copy of your credit report from Experian once a year, as well as from the other two major credit bureaus, Equifax and TransUnion, every 12 months through AnnualCreditReport.com. Generally, it's recommended that you review these reports annually to ensure the information is correct and to guard against identity theft. In your case, it's particularly important to monitor these reports closely due to the compromise of your identity. You will need to verify some personal information to access your reports, but it's a simple process that can provide valuable insight into your credit status.

Someone called claiming they work for Experian, a Mark Wilson

It's crucial to be cautious of unsolicited phone calls, especially those claiming to be from companies like Experian. Experian will never call and ask for your personal information unless you initiated the contact. To validate the caller's authenticity, we recommend not providing any personal information over the call. Instead, disconnect the call and directly contact Experian's customer support line to verify the legitimacy of the call. Always prioritize your safety and the security of your personal information.
