I needed help accessing my TurboTax account because I haven't had to log in to it for over 2 years, but this year I earned enough to file taxes, so I have to use the software. However, I don't have the password, and I'm not actually sure which email I used since I have multiple ones. I thought the easiest thing to do would be to call Intuit and get help recovering my account.
I'm aware they have a lot of different products, so I'm sure that there are tons of people calling as we get close to tax season. I expected to end up on hold for a while, but the ironic thing is that once I got to the hold line I was instantly connected. What actually took almost over 8 minutes, was to get through the directory and voice assistant! If they could streamline that process, it would be simple to deal with Intuit.
When I called, a voice assistant picked up and offered a variety of options, stating, "Welcome to Intuit. For TurboTax, press 1. For QuickBooks, press 2. For Payroll, press 3. For ProSeries Tax LaCerte Tax, EasyTax press 4. For checks, forms and supplies, press 5. For payment solutions or merchant services, press 6. For credit score, press 7. For QuickBooksTime, press 8. Then, after I chose TurboTax, it said, "For assistance with Turbo Tax in the US, press 1. For Turbo Tax in Canada, press 2." I chose the US and received a disclaimer, "Thank you for calling Turbo Tax. All elements of this call may be monitored and recorded. Please tell me why you're calling today. If you have a support ID, use that number." This is where things started to get tricky.
The system told me it could send an email with a link to access my account if my email or phone number had changed, but that isn't the problem. It's my password that isn't resetting. It asked me five times what I needed but wouldn't recognize any of my responses. So then I finally started to reply, "Talk to someone."
The voice assistant finally responded, "I understand you would like to speak with someone who can help you recover your account. If you need help with anything else your specialist will ask you to call back. Is that okay with you?" I responded yes but then nothing happened. Throughout my phone call it kept just pausing for up to thirty seconds at a time. Finally it asked for additional information, and eventually it started ringing.
Someone picked up immediately once the phone line was transferred, but it took me 8 minutes to get to that point. They need to work on the directory portion of the phone call, but this number was eventually useful.
