Hello, my name is Clayton G. My spouse and I filed a joint return on February 10th at H&R Block. We waited the 21-day period, but there has been no progress on our refund. As a low-income family facing financial difficulties, we are concerned about the delay. Our claim is already 60 days old. Despite investing $[redacted] for a quicker return, we still haven't received it. We have tried numerous times to resolve this by calling, but keep getting redirected to automated status checks. If you can't assist, please provide me with a customer service number where I can speak to a representative directly. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Hello, I have a question regarding my nephew, aged 32, who unfortunately passed away on March 11, [redacted]. I have his paperwork but I am unsure if he filed his taxes. What steps should I take in this situation? Should I simply notify the IRS with a copy of his death certificate? He was single, had no children, and his mother (my sister) passed away in September [redacted]. There is no appointed executor for his affairs, and I have been chosen by the family to handle this matter. He did not have an estate and lived paycheck to paycheck. Thank you for your assistance.

In late [redacted], my father suffered a stroke, leading me to seek guidance from an attorney and the state DHHR, strictly adhering to their advice to comply with WV Medicare/Medicaid regulations. These guidelines required me to deplete his retirement and Social Security funds and diminish his estate to ensure his nursing home receives the maximum payment as mandated. However, it recently came to my attention that this strategy has led to a situation where he is now faced with yearly tax obligations at both the state and federal levels. Unfortunately, this predicament places him in a difficult position, juxtaposing tax regulations against Medicaid guidelines, leaving me with no viable remedies. The conundrum lies in the fact that allocating his funds towards tax payments jeopardizes his ability to cover nursing home expenses, essential for his continuous full-time care. It is a delicate balance as his entire income, save $50 per month for personal items, is allocated to the facility, and any disruption could have dire consequences.

I am kindly requesting to postpone my current payment plan by one month due to a temporary reduction in my income from last December through August. I have resorted to borrowing money from high-interest short-term lenders like Check City to cover my recent payments. As a 67-year-old dealing with anxiety and high blood pressure, I am in a difficult situation and unable to afford financial advice. I also require an extension for filing my taxes. The automatic withdrawals are scheduled for the 14th, so I anticipate the deduction on Monday the 15th. Considering my Social Security arrives on the last Wednesday of every month, I would like to move the payment dates from the 14th to the 30th. I am feeling overwhelmed and unsure of what to do, and your assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Peter A. Bunin

I am currently using the free version of TurboTax and unfortunately do not have the budget to upgrade. Throughout [redacted], I had insurance coverage through the marketplace with different policy numbers from the same insurance company; one from January to April and another from May to December. Although I've entered all the premium amounts for each month, TurboTax is only letting me input one policy number. Would it be acceptable to the IRS if I only enter the most recent policy number as long as all the monthly amounts are reported accurately?

I recently received a notice regarding wage garnishment on my bank account, which surprised me as I was the primary account holder and my mother was a joint holder due to my age at the time the account was opened. The garnishment is related to a debt from a previous marriage that my mother is not responsible for, affecting my funds. To resolve this, I had to close the account and open a new one to separate our finances. It seems unfair that they are going after my mother's funds instead of targeting the individual who actually owes the debt and has been earning wages but refusing to pay. I hope they can redirect the garnishment to the right person and return the money that was wrongly taken from my account.

Since March [redacted], my employer ceased paying me on time and in full, using personal or business checks irregularly with no pay stubs after March. Hours were reduced, and payments shifted to cash until I left in October [redacted]. However, the final six weeks of my wages, totaling over $1,[redacted], remain unpaid. Contact is impossible now as they disappeared, leaving me concerned about retrieving both the money owed and my missing W2 for tax purposes.

Hello, I urgently needed to connect with the IRS on Friday. Despite unsuccessful attempts to reach them, when I searched for IRS contact information online, I found your service. After waiting for four hours following your estimated 15-minute wait time prompt, I finally heard back from you at the end of the day. Can you assist in passing on the requests and explanations I provided to the IRS? I want them to acknowledge my efforts to reach out and understand the issues based on the documentation I shared. I remain uncertain about your role and ongoing assistance. I am hoping for a clear response from you soon. Thank you, Peter B.

My husband pays taxes in both the U.S. and Iraq, while I pay quarterly taxes for my small business. We were advised that we could use the Iraqi taxes paid as a credit towards our U.S. taxes. However, it turns out we overpaid by $[redacted]. Our CPA, who seemed unsure about foreign tax matters and took five weeks to handle my husband's taxes, has us doubting his expertise. As the deadline approaches, the CPA now claims we can't get a refund of the $[redacted] but that it will be applied to next year's tax bill instead. This doesn't seem correct. Other people my husband works with have received cash refunds for similar situations. I'm unsure about our CPA's explanation; I've never heard that a credit wouldn't be refunded in the same year.

My tax return was rejected on February 19th because someone used my daughter, Ronique Washington, on their tax return without my knowledge. My tax preparer said she mailed the return back to the IRS, but when I checked last week, there was no record of it under Alisa McKay's name. I am concerned about how to resolve this since I have not received any confirmation from the IRS. As her mother, I am willing to provide any necessary documentation. I have heard conflicting information about the timeline for resolving this issue and I am uncertain if I can still file since today is the deadline. I attempted to file through a different service and was rejected again due to the issue with my daughter's social security number. I am determined to find out who is responsible for this situation because it is unfair and causing me financial stress.

Hello, I'm facing a complex situation with an inherited IRA. My siblings and I inherited shares from our late father's IRA, but one sibling passed away before him, leaving no estate yet. Vanguard, the IRA holder, will only distribute the deceased sister's share to her estate. Concerns arise regarding potential penalties for not taking the Minimum Required Distribution in [redacted]. Who will be penalized - the late sister's estate or our father's estate? As an executrix, can I withdraw the RMD? Vanguard allowed beneficiaries to withdraw the RMD for [redacted] but changed the rules for future years. Any guidance would be appreciated. Thank you. - Melissa G., Austin, TX

The IRS accepted my tax return on February 24th. When I called on March 25th, I was informed that an error had been found on my return, which was not previously communicated to me. They assured me that the appropriate department would send me instructions by mail within four weeks on how to address the error. This delay is extremely frustrating. I urge the IRS to handle this matter promptly and efficiently. I require immediate guidance on identifying and rectifying the error on my return. Waiting over a month for this crucial information is unreasonable. I request an expedited process for my refund from the IRS.

Hello, I did not receive my health care form from the marketplace until after I filed my taxes. I submitted the form and necessary documents about two weeks ago, but I haven't received any update on whether I will receive a refund or owe money. My social security number is [redacted], and I filed jointly with my husband, Robert Johnson. The initial refund amount was $2,[redacted]. I would appreciate it if the IRS could contact me via email or phone to provide me with the information regarding my refund status. Thank you.

Subject: Assistance Needed for Mr. Charles E. Wade Greetings, We recently received a letter regarding an outstanding balance that needs to be addressed. Despite our repeated attempts to resolve this matter over the years, we have been unable to reach a resolution. Mr. Wade depends on various sources of income, primarily social security, union benefits, and fluctuating oil royalties. The recent tax demand from the IRS has put a strain on his finances, making it difficult for him to afford crucial medication for his heart condition. We have submitted all necessary documentation multiple times but have not received any feedback, except for the request to call back. We kindly ask for someone to review Mr. Wade's case and provide guidance via email on the next steps. Any interruption or reduction in his payments could have severe consequences, as he relies solely on these funds to sustain his livelihood. Your prompt attention to this matter is greatly appreciated. Warm regards, Rolf A.

Last week, I checked my account for my federal tax refund status. The notification stated that my refund had been sent and should appear in my bank statement by April **th. However, upon checking the IRS app today, it mentioned that my refund was redirected to cover child support or another federal debt, which is confusing as I don't have any children or any related debts. This sudden change has left me concerned about a possible error or security issue. I urgently require assistance in understanding why this occurred and to ensure I receive my tax refund promptly. Kindly help me resolve this matter and provide clarity on the unexpected notification regarding my refund.

I attempted to file my taxes before the 4/15 deadline but faced issues retrieving my online AGI for [redacted] from the IRS website. I could not progress past this step as I lack a physical copy of my [redacted] return. Despite entering all requested details multiple times, I was continuously met with errors regarding my personal information and financial data, including my Mr. Cooper account number. I persisted until midnight without success. I am concerned about potential penalties for missing the deadline and unsure whether to retry obtaining my online AGI or explore alternative solutions. Approximately six weeks ago, we provided all our tax information to accountant Kathy Saulton. My husband regularly checked in with her each week regarding the progress of our taxes. As the 15th approached this past weekend, we reached out to her even more frequently. She assured us that the taxes would be completed before midnight on April 15, [redacted]. Unfortunately, despite my husband's repeated attempts to contact her that evening, there was no response. Upon visiting her residence on April 16, [redacted], her husband relayed that she had been taken to the Emergency Department and was currently in ICU. Regrettably, our taxes remain unfinished and are believed to be in her house. This situation is unprecedented for us as we have always filed on time. We find ourselves uncertain about the next steps. Is it feasible to request an extension under these extenuating circumstances?

I recently received a letter from the IRS office in Chamblee, Georgia, stating that they require an additional 60 days to provide a complete response regarding the action they are taking on my account. Despite contacting the IRS [redacted] number and receiving no further information, as well as confirming with Turbotax that my taxes were filed accurately, I am left wondering about the specific reason for the extended timeframe. As a single mother without court-ordered child support, every dollar is crucial for supporting and raising my daughter.

I have been separated from my ex-husband since [redacted], living in different states. He refuses to divorce me, manipulating tax benefits each year. He has a history of deceiving the IRS, even involving his girlfriend's sister and fraudulently claiming our children without my knowledge. This tax season, I anticipated a $[redacted] refund, but instead, my online filing sent the state refund to me, while the federal refund of about $[redacted] is going to my ex. I suspect he earned over $68,[redacted] while I struggled to make ends meet with part-time work. I am disappointed because my daughter, graduating with honors and entering the National Guard, has a ceremony in Missouri on May 25th that I may miss due to financial difficulties. Despite court-ordered child support, the situation remains challenging as I strive to support my daughter and myself. I have been pursuing a divorce since [redacted], but my current unemployment and online schooling are financially strained, leaving me with little to survive on. I hope things improve soon so I can attend my daughter's graduation. Thank you for listening.

I have given almost $19,[redacted] to the IRS office in hopes of receiving money owed to me by someone. The government official stated that the person's bank account was inactive due to fees or taxes, and I needed to pay to reactivate it. After sending $19,[redacted], I found out that I might have to wait or go to court. I am confused and would like to know the next steps to take. I haven't received any receipts or certificates for my payments, and now they are asking for more fees for my check to be issued. I believe I shouldn't have to pay these additional fees. I just want what is owed to me and a refund of the fees I've already paid. Can you direct me to the right government office where I can speak to someone in person? I am an elderly woman with cancer, promised a check last month that never arrived. Thank you for your attention.
