Recently, my wife and I, traveled to California and picked up a premium rental car from Hotwire at the Santa Barbara airport. They were apparently swamped with unhappy customers, due to the excessive wait time for getting cars. We waited for nearly ** minutes at Enterprise, but the biggest issue was the automobile we were provided. It was a Mercedes C***, which in itself should not have been a problem. However, it was the worst car I have ever rented. Its performance was very poor--appeared to have issues with the transmission. I would have returned it for a different car, except that we were traveling to San Francisco and did not have an opportunity. When I turned it in four days later, I informed the Enterprise representative that the car had issues. He told me that there was a switch that would have helped me, but I was never told about it in Santa Barbara. *I have an upcoming rental-same level of car type- In Washington DC (Dulles) in November. *I will never rent or accept another Mercedes. For a new vehicle, it was very poor. It was dirty, scratched all up and did not ride anything like a Mercedes should ride or handle.*I hope that Hotwire does a better job of handling my rental car in November!
