Wells Fargo allows customers to set up bill pay, but what do you do when you need to update your list of payees? How do you delete a bill pay payee you previously added? You can discover more about bill pay by calling Wells Fargo customer support and below are the steps to deleting a bill pay payee from your account.

How Bill Pay Works

Wells Fargo bill pay allows you to send one-time or recurring payments to almost anyone or any business in the United States online. Using your checking account, or other approved deposit account, you can set the date and amount of payment from your phone or computer, and you can manage your payees from your account.

Deleting an Existing Payee

If you need to delete an existing payee, follow these steps:

  1. Log into your Wells Fargo online banking account from your mobile device or computer.
  2. Go to "Bill Pay" to review the list of payees you have added.
  3. Select the payee that you want to delete.
  4. At the bottom of the payee's profile on your account, click or tap "Delete Payee."
  5. Review your request and confirm deleting the payee by clicking "Save."

Important Information

Wells Fargo bill pay comes with bill pay guarantee, which means if it fails to process a payment as scheduled, resulting in fees or late charges, Wells Fargo will cover those expenses. What does this mean for you when you want to delete a payee? You must delete the payee well before the next scheduled payment. In addition, if you deleted a payee in advance and the funds are still drafted out of your account, you must do the following:

  1. Contact Wells Fargo and provide complete information on the payment, including the amount, date and the recipient.
  2. Make a stop-payment request. If the payment is sent as a paper check, Wells Fargo will apply other conditions as listed in your deposit account information.

Deleting a payee can be done quickly in a few clicks by logging into your online bank account, but you want to make sure you delete the payee before the payment starts processing to avoid potential issues. For more information or assistance with bill pay, contact Wells Fargo customer service.

Why does GetHuman Write How-to Guides for Wells Fargo Problems?

GetHuman has been working for over 10 years on sourcing information about big organizations like Comcast in order to help customers resolve customer service issues faster. We started with contact information and fastest ways to reach a human at big companies. Particularly ones with slow or complicated IVR or phone menu systems. Or companies that have self-serve help forums instead of a customer service department. From there, we realized that consumers still needed more detailed help solving the most common problems, so we expanded to this set of guides, which grows every day. And if you spot any issues with our What do I do if my Xfinity TV or internet is out? guide, please let us know by sending us feedback. We want to be as helpful as possible. If you appreciated this guide, please share it with your favorite people. Our free information and tools is powered by you, the customer. The more people that use it, the better it gets.
