How Do I Unsuspend My Venmo Account?

Venmo is a mobile payment service that allows users (have to be US citizens) to transfer funds to other account holders directly via a phone app. It is a convenient platform since you don't have to fumble with cash or look for change. You may be feeling the convenience of Venmo if you're using the service, but that may not be so if the company freezes your account.

There are multiple reasons why Venmo freezes accounts, including insufficient funds in customer banks to complete a transfer, the violation of user agreement, or suspicion of fraudulent activity. Depending on the reason for account suspension, you have various options to use to unsuspend your account. Read further to find out more.

Venmo account freeze? Here's what to do

If you suspect that your account freeze has to do with insufficient funds, you should:

  1. Launch the Venmo webpage
  2. On the top right of the home screen is the Sign in tab, click on it and then key in your login credentials to access your account
  3. Navigate to add funds
  4. A popup window will appear on which you should select the bank you want to transfer funds from
  5. Enter the amount of cash you wish to transfer (at least the much you owe Venmo)
  6. After completion of the transfer, your account should unfreeze within two to three business days

Venmo can also suspend accounts due to violation of terms, for which consumers need to contact the company agents for help. One way of chatting with a staff member is via the app:

  1. Open the Venmo application
  2. Click on the menu icon that's on the top left corner
  3. Tap on "Get Help"
  4. Hit Contact Us
  5. Choose the Chat with Us under CONNECT WITH A HUMAN
  6. You can now text with a live operator to seek assistance with your frozen account issue

Other than the app, there are different ways of contacting the customer service team, including:

Phone number

Venmo offers customer care help toll-free via phone number. Be sure to have handy your account information to enable the agents to verify your identity and help you quickly. You can also inquire about any pending issues with your account during the call and even get tips to avoid future problems.

Email

Venmo email is another way of seeking customer support. This is a convenient way of getting assistance since you can multi-task while sending your message. The service team usually replies to emails on a first-come-first-served basis, so don't worry if it takes a while to get a reply. With the written form of communication, you can easily refer to the conversation in the future whenever you need to solve a similar problem.

Online help desk

Another way of seeking out the help of the customer service department is via the online help desk. At the forum, you can go through the multiple help topics available and select one. A service rep will reach out to you, and you can exchange messages to help counter your account problem.

Why does GetHuman Write How-to Guides for Venmo Problems?

GetHuman has been working for over 10 years on sourcing information about big organizations like Comcast in order to help customers resolve customer service issues faster. We started with contact information and fastest ways to reach a human at big companies. Particularly ones with slow or complicated IVR or phone menu systems. Or companies that have self-serve help forums instead of a customer service department. From there, we realized that consumers still needed more detailed help solving the most common problems, so we expanded to this set of guides, which grows every day. And if you spot any issues with our What do I do if my Xfinity TV or internet is out? guide, please let us know by sending us feedback. We want to be as helpful as possible. If you appreciated this guide, please share it with your favorite people. Our free information and tools is powered by you, the customer. The more people that use it, the better it gets.
