What is the Tennessee Valley Authority?

Asked 6 months ago
The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) is a federally owned corporation established in 1933 as part of President Franklin D. Roosevelt's New Deal. It serves as a provider of electricity and as an economic development agency for the Tennessee Valley region. The primary mission of TVA is to generate affordable, reliable, and clean energy. It does so by operating multiple power generating facilities, including hydroelectric dams, nuclear plants, and natural gas-fired plants. TVA also focuses on managing flood control, improving navigation, and fostering economic growth through job creation, education, and environmental stewardship. It plays a vital role in supporting the development of industries, improving water resources management, and providing recreational opportunities in the Tennessee Valley.
