How do solar covers help to heat the pool?

Asked 7 months ago
Solar covers help to heat the pool by acting as a barrier between the water and the outside environment. Made from a special heat-absorbing material, these covers utilize the sun’s energy to warm up the pool water. When the solar cover is placed on the pool surface, it traps heat from the sunlight and prevents it from escaping. This process, known as solar heating, creates a greenhouse effect. The cover also reduces evaporation, preventing heat loss through water vapor escaping from the pool. As a result, solar covers can increase water temperature by up to 10-15 degrees Fahrenheit, extending the swimming season and reducing the need for a separate pool heater. Additionally, the cover retains heat overnight, further maximizing its heating benefits.
