How Do I Upgrade to Business or First Class on Qatar Airlines?

Qatar Airlines, based in Doha, Qatar, connects customers to more than 160 global destinations every day. It has provisions for customers alongside their families to upgrade their flight experience when they travel for vacations and business trips, among other tours. You can upgrade to business or first class on Qatar Airlines online or at the airport as outlined in the guide below.

Online

  • Visit the Qatar Airlines website (Qatarairways.com)
  • Click on the "Login/Sign up" tab at the top right bar from the homepage,
  • The login page will prompt you to enter your email address or membership number, followed by the password to access your account.
  • After logging in successfully, you can redeem your Qmiles/Qcredit and request an upgrade to business or first class on Qatar Airlines from your dashboard.
  • If you don't have an account, click on the "Create a new account" tab on the login page.
  • You can choose to create an account using Facebook, Twitter, or Google.
  • The other alternative is filling up a form that requires entry of your details such as title, names, email address, suitable password, and country or region of residence as well as the date of birth, country code, and mobile number.
  • Accept all terms and conditions of the Privilege Club program and the Qatar Airways privacy policy.
  • Check the box indicating "I'm not a robot" and submit by clicking on the "Create an account" tab at the bottom of the page.

Upgrade at the airport

  • You can redeem your Qmiles or Qcredits to purchase an upgrade to business or first class on Qatar Airlines.
  • When checking in for your flight to Doha, you can approach any Qatar Airways staff member at the airport check-in counter and request to purchase an upgrade on departure from economy class to business or first class or business to first class.
  • The purchase for an upgrade depends on the availability of seats and cabin-configuration on a first-come, first-served basis. It is available between 3 hrs to 60 minutes before flight departure.
  • The airline also has provisions for you to claim an upgrade for a guest.
  • Lounge access and baggage allowance services are offered as per the initially ticketed cabin after making an upgrade. Silver, gold, and platinum members have improved access to the services above based on their tier benefits.
