How does E-ZPass work?

Asked 6 months ago
E-ZPass is an electronic toll collection system that enables quick and convenient payment of tolls on Delaware highways. It functions using a small device affixed to your vehicle's windshield, called a transponder. As you approach a toll lane, the transponder emits a radio frequency signal which is detected by an overhead antenna. This signal is used to deduct the appropriate toll amount from your prepaid E-ZPass account. The toll is automatically deducted, allowing you to pass through the toll plaza without stopping or dealing with cash transactions. The transponder should be properly mounted inside the vehicle to ensure accurate detection. In case of insufficient balance, the system notifies you, and funds can be added through various methods like online, phone, or in-person. E-ZPass enhances your travel experience by reducing traffic congestion and enabling seamless toll payment.
